Subarea
B, the southeastern part of the Curtis Park - Five Points district
includes the historic Welton Street commercial corridor and the existing
Central Corridor light rail line. Prominent among the infill
developments in this area is the redevelopment of the old East Village
public housing complex into a new mixed-income, mixed-tenure community
covering several blocks along Park Avenue, as well as two more block
across Park Avenue in the Uptown district.
This part of the Curtis Park - Five Points district also includes
another place where the diagonal Downtown grid and the N-S-E-W metro
grid collide, resulting in interesting sight lines, triangle-shaped
blocks, and quirky intersections like the "Five Points" intersection at
27th Street, E. 26th Avenue, Welton, and Washington.
