1515 Wynkoop Update
Hines' 1515 Wynkoop office project on Block 013 in Lower Downtown Denver is going vertical! After about a year of digging a big hole and filling it up with four levels of underground parking, the project recently reached ground level. Then, in just a few days time, the project has already started to rise. That's the advantage of building the superstructure out of steel instead of reinforced concrete--construction goes a lot faster. Anyway, here's a photo from this morning of the 1515 Wynkoop site:

It's exciting to see things moving along finally.. I get so antsy to see the progress on some of the lingering projects.. And not living in Denver anymore I wish I could see the progress on all of the bigger downtown projects. Hows Spire coming along?
Interesting. So if it is a steel frame with a birck exterior, does that mean the building is using a curtain wall for the facade? How will the brick and frame support each other? (or are they independent of one another?)
Ken, do you have any idea? I would think it hard to build brick six stories up when it's supporting its own weight.

yeah, I dont live in Denver anymore either, moved to West Hollywood about a month ago.. how is Spire coming along?
Now that I take a look at Denver from the angle of that webcam, I realize that the at&t building is really ugly.. I wonder if they will ever get up the goods to redo the facade? It also makes me think about the other structures in that area that need some cleaning up. Now that all of these new, attractive swanky towers are being developed, I wonder how well the rest of Downtown will be able to keep up/adjust?
