That's quite the hole. How many floors underground will the Four Seasons go again?

UGH!! You'll never guess what's in the Rocky Mountain News today. Great Gulf has announced a December 2008 start date for 1401 Lawrence. What a bummer...that's over a year away. Let's just hope it even gets off the ground. (Dont hold your breath, however.)
 

I guess I'd call that luxury... it still looks a little dirty to me.
 

Wow, that was really fast work. Where do they take all that dirt? Is there a huge mound somewhere outside town with the soil from hundreds of past construction sites?

It's funny how you see a hole that is hundreds of truckoads deep, then a tower rising with thousands of tons of steel, but you never actually see them in the act of bringing anything to and from the construction site.

The dirt from the 4S is going to the Gates redevelopment site. Also, I've hear they're going down about 40 feet.
 

I would first like to see more of the existing parking lots downtown developed, but I think the Federal Reserve Bank (16th and Arapahoe) should be moved to 18th or 19th street (in the federal district). An upscale shopping center, hotel, condominium complex can be built on this entire block instead. The location would be perfect because it is near the Four Seasons, Larimer Square, DCPA, etc. It could be the site for the Trump tower, Bloomingdales, etc. Also, it will be a nice street wall across from Skyline Park.

I love your thinking anon 1:51! A Bloomingdales or a Saks would be perfect in that area, plus it could provide the anchor we need to create a shopping district!
 

I love your thinking anon 1:51 - I also look forward to the day when the Federal Reserve Bank is relocated - I've always viewed it as a modern monstrosity and to think it took the place of the magnificent Tabor Opera House. Hopefully, the Four Seasons, et al will one day help spur redevelopment of the FRB site.
 

No way it's moving. There is no need for the Feds to move it. Personnaly I'm with you all I want it gone too, however, give one good reason from the Feds perspective to move it.
 

If the mayor and our congressional representatives worked with the Fed's they could get the Federal Reserve Bank moved.
 

...one good reason for Fed to move... all those people "playing chess" 16th St Mall are actually casing the joint. Think of the damage to our economy, the world economy, when they break in and raise the Fed Funds Rate 10%, 20%!!!
 

I took a peek into the Four Seasons sales center. On the model there is a little sign over the parking lot that reads "possible sight for future tower." I hadn't heard about this possibility before...has anybody heard about it?
 

It's Just a possiblity anon 4:56. They want to see if the First tower goes well with sales and all. They dont own the land where the proposed 2nd tower will be. The just have an option on it. It'll be shorter that the 1st tower. Only about 25-30 Floors. My friend is the Developer.

hobbie I am a little confused what lot you're talking about? Doesnt the developer own the entire 3/4 block where they are currently digging the big hole? Are you talking about the lot that fronts 15th Street from Arapahoe to Lawrence???
 

anon 9:27am , yes. the lot that faces 15 from arapahoe to lawrence is where the projected tower is supposed to go. they dont own that yet.
 

Why would they buy that away from Hines when they built into the current plans room for a second tower? If you look at one of the renderings you can see where the second tower would connect to the podium of this tower.
 

Assuming all goes well, what would be the timeframe on the second tower? Are they planning on preparing for it as soon as they get an idea of the demand for units, while the first tower is under construction, or is this a 10-20 year speculation, like Tabor II?
 

PLEASE! Tabor 2 is starting next year, please get your info straight these are chicago homies on the move not DENVER! and tabor 2 is an office tower wich are in full demand in denver you could build 10 of them and fill them all in 5 years, but this is denver can you say scary?
 

Eveyone remember when denver was bidding for boeing to move hear, i believe one of the reasons they didnt was because there wasnt adequite office space.
