"Spire" Project Site Cleared for Construction

Downtown Denver's next big urban infill construction site is taking shape at the corner of 14th and Champa on Block 131. That's where Spire, the 41-story, 504-unit condo tower planned by the Nichols Partnership, is set to rise.

The site is getting prepped for the start of construction. Construction fencing is up and the asphalt surface has been removed. Yet another parking lot bites the dust in Downtown Denver!

A groundbreaking event is in the works for later in May. In the meantime, the corner of 14th and Champa is already under transformation.

Comments:
This is great! This project has been pushed back for some months now, and it's good to see that it's finally moving forward!

YES!

For too long the Hyatt was the only appealing building next to our newly renovated convention center. The Hilton is almost done and the Spire is beginning. Before long we will remark how we remember when 14th Street was just a bunch of ugly parking lots and run-down buildings. Good riddance to another surface lot!

Amen!!! Anon 10:25... Now we just need some of that nice street scaping before the Dems show up... woot!

It looks like its going to happen. Good job Denver!.

! bet that it rises faster then one lincoln !

Does somebody really find that Hilton building as an improvement over the parking lot? It has those small windows and a really cheap look to it. The parking lot at least had potential to become a great building.

anon 1:14, you are a fool to wish it would stay a parking lot. This project will put much needed money and residents in the area, 14th street is in dire need of spire.
