"Cable Railway Building" Hotel Rendering

In my March 15th blog about the new hotel planned by Central Development LLC at the historic Cable Railway building on Block 066, I held off on posting the rendering below since an updated version of the design is in the works. But, while the architects at Buchanan Yonushewski Group are wrapping up the revised design, I figured I'd post the original rendering anyway... to give you something to talk about until the new one is ready.

Pretty cool, huh? The building in the background left is Westfield Development's proposed 1800 Larimer project on the same block, which should be starting to rise to its 22-story height by the time the Cable Railway hotel breaks ground in Spring 2008.

Comments:
Yes, it would be pretty cool if it ever gets built, but like the Spire, Four Seasons, 1800 Market, 1401 Lawrence, and a few other projects, this may be a building that's only a dream.

How about the building on 17th Avenue? That's worth talking about.

I am all for progress, and I am excited about this one, however, what will happen to the Old Spaghetti Factory? That was my first job as a teenager.(A Looonnnggg time ago!) It has become a Denver institution. I hope they stay downtown in another building.

The building on 17th Avenue? The Pinnacle Tower? It's almost topped out I believe.

I believe the developer is trying to keep the Spaghetti Factory in the building; although their space will have to be reconfigured and possibly reduced in size.

To the other "anonymous" - If most of the recent proposals for new development, redevelopment, or infill hadn't actually been completed, we would have a sorry, and empty, downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Granted, a lot has been accomplished through public investment (who says government can't deliver?), but Denver has had an extraordinary amount of private development, as well.

If you want to compare, check out a few Urban Planet forums. Now some cities would give anything for our "diappointments".

KEN, congrats on your Westword Best of Denver award!!

woohoo!

no not the pinnacle, the building on the right of the hotel.
