Block is
100% developed! |
This block
is packed solid with all sorts of buildings, including the historic Midland
Savings Building (now Midland Lofts). Also of note is the tallest
building on the block, the 31-story tower at 16th & Glenarm completed in
1967 as the Security Life building. This office tower fell into
decline over the years, and was mostly vacant by the late 1990s. In
2005-2006, the building received a $38 million facelift and renovation,
including new windows and other facade updates, new exterior lighting, a new
name "1600 Glenarm," and a complete interior conversion into 330 luxury
apartments with ground-floor retail. 1600 Glenarm is no longer an
empty eyesore, but a big infusion of residential into Upper Downtown. |
