Located
immediately north of the State Capitol, this block presents two very
different sides to the city. On the Sherman Street side, two state
government office buildings anchor the corners of the block while a gap
where a former parking
garage once stood occupies the middle (demolished since the aerial photo
above was taken). Along Lincoln Street, however, is a long
stretch of surface parking lot which leaves the corner of
Lincoln and Colfax undefined and lacking in a sense of importance.
Fortunately,
the proposed State Office Building will remedy both situations. |
