Block at
100% developed!
One Wynkoop Plaza, the 7-story, 18-unit condominium loft building located
behind the historic Union Pacific Freighthouse, was completed in 1998, prior
to this site's baseline year of 2000. Nevertheless, it
was a significant infill project at the time. The structure, nicely
complementing its historic neighbor, was designed by CW Fentress and
developed by Thermo Development, Inc. The historic Union Pacific
Freighthouse, abandoned since 1978, was fully renovated in 1995 by Thermo
and includes offices and several popular restaurants.
* East of 15th Street,
Wewatta Street shifts one block to the north and runs along the Delgany
Street alignment due to the railroad tracks behind Union Station. |
While
almost half of this block is taken up by the 20th Viaduct HOV flyover and
access to the back side of the block, what remains is a nice
combination of a new and an historic building that, together with Wynkoop
Plaza, three streets at different grade levels, and neighboring Coors
Fields, create an interesting and unique urban setting.
The "H" in
the Block Number is short for "Hoyt & Robinson" who partially platted this
block in 1871. For more information, go to
The Block Numbers page found in the Special
Features section.
