This block covering two full blocks in size, is the home of the Colorado State Capitol.  The land for the Capitol was deeded to the State in 1868, but it wasn't until 1890 that the cornerstone of the building was laid.  The building was essentially complete by 1895.  The Capitol dome wasn't clad in gold leaf, however, until 1908.  For a complete history of the Colorado State Capitol, go here.
