There's not
much to say about this block anymore. It used to house the old Denver
Post printing and distribution facility, a somewhat muted mid-century
facility of very modest stature. That was torn down by Bruce Berger, a
developer who hoped to build the city's new convention center headquarters
hotel on the site but lacked the financial backing to do so. So the
block became a parking lot instead. The City of Denver took over,
created an independent authority to build the hotel on behalf of the city,
and the rest is history.
