The
first phase of the Colorado Convention Center was finished in 1990, and stood next
door to the city's "old" convention center, Currigan Hall, which was built
in the 1960. With the
expansion, Currigan Hall and the TerraCenter, an office tower at Speer and
Stout, were demolished, and Stout
Street and the Light Rail tracks were rerouted to curve through the facility,
almost to Champa Street. The Colorado Convention Center now covers almost 9 city blocks.
Architecturally, the expanded center is a marked improvement over the
previous version. |
